STEM Summer Camps in Richmond, VA

RITS runs STEM and AI summer camps in Richmond, VA for middle and high school students, hosted at VCU College of Engineering. Campers build real projects in tracks like biomedical engineering, computer vision, and coding, working next to PhD mentors and other young builders. RITS also runs online STEM and AI courses for students anywhere in the US who want to keep building outside camp season.

Live Online STEM & AI Courses

Don’t Just Learn It. Build It.

Live, project-based courses where students learn by creating. Build a video game. Create an AI chatbot. Explore how modern artificial intelligence works. Document your learning in your own GitHub Repository. Every course gives students the chance to develop durable skills while creating projects they can save, share, and continue building on.

Our philosophy

The Best Way to Learn STEM Is to Build With It

Students shouldn’t spend a STEM program simply listening to someone explain technology. At RITS, they use it. Whether they're coding a game, developing an AI chatbot, training a computer vision system, or building a robotic arm, students learn by turning ideas into something real.

Build Something Real

Every RITS program is built around creating. Students design, experiment, troubleshoot, test, and improve their work until they have something they can proudly demonstrate.

The goal isn't just to learn a new skill. It's to build something with it.

Explore What Excites You

Al. Coding. Computer vision. Biomedical engineering. Teenagers often know they're interested in technology before they know where STEM might take them. RITS gives students opportunities to explore different STEM fields, try new technologies, and discover what they enjoy: building.

You don't need to know your future career. You just need somewhere to start.

Show What You Can Do

Projects give students more than knowledge. They give them something tangible they can demonstrate, Improve, and share with parents, teachers, college programs, internships, and eventually employers.

Don't just say what you learned. Show what you bullt.

STEM Experience

Experience STEM at VCU Engineering

Our summer programs give students an opportunity to step inside a real college engineering environment.

Students learn at the VCU College of Engineering, tour university robotics labs, hear from PhD guest speakers, and see firsthand what studying and building in STEM can look like.

For many students, it's their first opportunity to experience engineering inside a university.

Why Choose RITS

Hundreds of Students Have Already Built With RITS

RITS has helped hundreds of middle and high school students explore artificial intelligence, coding, robotics, engineering, and emerging technology through hands-on summer camps and online programs.

What about rits

Hear it from our Parents and Students

"My son came home every day talking about what he'd built, not what he'd sat through. This wasn't a camp to keep him busy — it was the first program that actually challenged him."

Maria T.

Parent of a 9th grader

"I trained a real classifier in five days. I didn't think I'd understand the math behind it, but the instructors broke it down until it actually made sense."

Aiden R.

Computer Vision Track

"What sets RITS apart is that the instructors are practitioners first. My students weren't learning a watered-down version of AI — they were learning the real thing, scaled to their level."
